Overview: what the integration does

The Nordomatic integration makes events/alarms and relevant operating data from SD systems/BMS via Nordomatic visible in the Insights module in LAFT, allowing you to:

  • Detect operational deviations (ventilation, heating, cooling, indoor environment, etc.)
  • Prioritize and triage in Insights
  • Create work orders directly from an alert, and follow up further in LAFT

Short flow:

  1. Nordomatic registers an alarm/event (from SD system/underlying system).
  2. The incident is sent to LAFT as an alert/insight.
  3. The alert appears in Insights with context (facility, building, point, severity, time).
  4. You create work orders and set responsibilities/priorities.

Prerequisites

For the integration to work as desired, this should be clarified:

  • The integration is enabled in LAFT.
  • Mapping has been established between Nordomatic and the building in LAFT
    • When the integration is activated, you will have a new field available on your buildings: Nordomatic-ID:

Here you can fill in the ID of the meter in the building, so that future alerts will automatically be placed on the correct object in LAFT. If you do not fill in the meter ID here, the alert must be manually placed on the correct object in LAFT upon the first alarm:
  • You have decided which alarm types should be entered into LAFT (all vs. only critical/high).

What typically goes into LAFT (Insight)

A Nordomatic alert in LAFT contains combinations of:

  • Alarm/event type (e.g. temperature deviation, pressure, fan error, etc.)
  • Severity/priority (if Nordomatic/SD classifies this)
  • Time (originated/last updated)
  • Object/point (aggregate, sensor, subsystem, data point)
  • Location (building – depending on mapping with Nordomatic-ID)
  • Additional data (measured value, setpoint, comment, status)

LAFT uses this to make it easy to:

  • Sort by criticality
  • Group by building/facility (depending on mapping with Nordomatic-ID).
  • Create work orders with the correct context (that the source is a notification from Nordomatic).

How to work with Nordomatic notifications in LAFT

1) Find the alert in Insights and look for new/active alerts

2) Consider the warning
When you open the alert, consider:

  • Is this a critical operating error (stops indoor climate, risk of frost, downtime)?
  • Is there a communication breakdown?
  • Is it “noise” (short-term deviations) that should rather be handled with thresholds/rules?

Practical rules of thumb:

  • Communication lost on central system → high priority
  • Temperature deviation in zone → assess duration/scope before creating work order in LAFT
  • Fan failure/unit stop → typically acute and should have high priority

3) Create work order from the alert
Select the Manage button on the alert in Insights.

  • The task text will automatically be: “Alarm from Nordomatic”, with associated meta-data (location, meter ID, value and time).
  • Description: supplement with task text if necessary.
  • Please choose an appropriate measure type on the work order, e.g. SD/electrical/plumbing or similar ( read more about measure types here ).
  • Priority: based on severity + consequence
  • Assignment to performer: correct shift/supplier or internal operations
  • Attachments: e.g. screenshot/report from Nordomatic, or other relevant files can be uploaded in the Comments and files tab.

Tip: include “first check” in the work order:

  • Check if the alarm is still active in Nordomatic
  • Check trending/duration
  • Check if there are related alarms on the same system

Recommended routine to avoid alarm noise

Nordomatic/SD can generate many alarms. To prevent this from becoming noise Insight in LAFT, it is a good idea to have clarified the following:

  • Agree which severity levels will trigger notifications from Nordomatic (e.g. only High/Critical first)
  • Establish handling rules:
    • Communication loss → X minutes → Work order
    • Temperature deviation → Y °C in → Z minutes → Work order
    • One-time event → observation/no Work order. The alarm is closed in Nordomatic and LAFT Insight when the contractor is finished on the building and the error has been corrected.

Limitations with the integration

  • Two-way sync: Nordomatic → LOW alert, not back to Nordomatic.
  • Work order closing in LAFT does not automatically close the alarm in Nordomatic.
    • But if the fault is rectified in the building, and the leak is stopped, the alarm will be closed in Nordomatic.
  • Updates may be received on the same alarm as new notifications.
  • Not all trending/history is shown in LAFT, only where actual deviations/alerts have been registered. Nordomatic must therefore be used as a workspace for monitoring all facilities.

Troubleshooting if notifications aren't showing up

Check in this order:

  • Is the alarm available in Nordomatic right now?
  • Is the mapping correct (Nordomatic plant → LAFT building)?
  • Are any Nordomatic notifications coming in, or none (may indicate integration/access)?
