Overview: what the integration does
The Smartvatten → LAFT integration makes alarms/events in Smartvatten visible as notifications in the Insights module in LAFT, allowing you to create a work order directly (typically for leak indication, abnormal consumption, stoppage in water flow, etc.).
Think of the flow like this:
- Smartvatten detects an alarm (rule/threshold/deviation).
- The alarm is sent as a notification to LAFT.
- The notification appears in LAFT (Insight) with relevant details.
- You review and create work orders, and follow up in the regular workflow.
Prerequisites
Before it works in practice, the following must be in place:
- You have an active Smartvatten account with alarms activated on measurement points/sensors.
- You have activated the Smartvatten integration in LAFT.
- There is a link between Smartvatten units/metering points and buildings in LAFT. This is important so that notifications end up in the “right place” and are easy to convert into work orders.
- When the integration is activated, you will have a new field available on your buildings: Smartvatten-ID:

Here you can fill in the ID of the meter in the building, so that future alerts will automatically be placed on the correct object in LAFT. If you do not fill in the meter ID here, the alert must be manually placed on the correct object in LAFT upon the first alarm:
The next time an alarm comes in, it will then be set to the correct object.
- When the integration is activated, you will have a new field available on your buildings: Smartvatten-ID:
How data flows (conceptually)
When Smartvatten generates an alarm, it includes data that LAFT uses to create a warning:
- Alarm type (leakage, high consumption, continuous consumption, etc.)
- Location (building, if meter ID is entered)
- Measurement point / device ID
- Value
- Time (start and/or detected time)
In LAFT, this is presented in the Insights module, where alerts can:
- Filtered/sorted (typically by alarm date, status, location)
- Assessed and triaged
- Converted to work order
How to work with the alarm in LAFT
1) Find the notification
Go to the Insights module in LAFT and check for new/active alerts
2) Open notification and review content
When you open the alert, consider:
- How serious is the deviation? (amount, duration, type)
- Has this happened before? (repeated alerts in the same place)
- Is there a known activity that explains it? (washing, work, planned stop)
3) Create work order from the alert
Tap the Manage button on the notification.
- The task text will automatically be: “Alarm from Smartvatten”, with associated meta-data (location, value and time).
- Description: supplement with task text if necessary.
- Please choose an appropriate action type on the work order ( read about action types here ).
- Set priority: based on threshold (e.g. leak = high).
- Assignment to performer: team/supplier/shift based on location.
- Attachments: e.g. screenshot/report from Smartvatten, or other relevant files can be uploaded in the Comments and files tab.
When the work order has been created, it will be visible on the notification in Insight by stating the work order ID number in the Work Order column.
Recommended workflow
To get the most value from the integration, use a simple triage process:
- Daily review of new Smartvatten notifications in Insight.
- Quick classification:
- Critical: probable leak → work order immediately
- Medium: abnormal consumption → work order or observe
- Low: short/one-time events → note/close the alarm
- Create a work order and attach a standard checklist, e.g.:
- verify locally (valves/technical room/visual inspection)
- check night consumption / continuous tapping
- measures and follow-up (confirm normalization)
What the integration doesn't do
- Two-way sync: Smartvatten → LOW alert, not back to Smartvatten.
- Auto-closing alarm: The alarm in Smartvatten is not automatically closed when the work order is closed in LAFT.
- But if the fault is rectified in the building, and the leak is stopped, the alarm will be closed in Smartvatten.
- Duplicates: If Smartvatten sends repeated alarms, routines may be needed to avoid multiple work orders for the same incident.
Troubleshooting (if notifications don't appear)
Check in this order:
- Is the alarm in Smartvatten? (is it actually triggered/active)
- Is the integration active in LAFT?
- Is the measurement point ID/location mapped correctly?
- Test with a known alarm type that you know will be triggered.
